Just going for a walk can be a rich learning experience for all. My family went for a walk just outside Fort Langley and we were surprised at the vast amount of wildlife we saw. This moved us into conversations about habitat, history and the future. We were really shocked and amazed when a frog hopped across our path. The girls were not brave enough to touch it, but I was. This was a day of learning that all started with a walk of two very energetic dogs. I value the time families can spend together and the learning that takes place because of it. So, Division 10 families....go for a walk and tell me what you learned. :)
Doing things for themselves.....a goal for our grade ones! Please encourage your child to do as much as they can on their own. It will help them develop the confidence it takes to solve problems and take on challenges at school. It is this "I can do" attitude that encourages further learning and progress. So, have them pick up, be responsible, take risks, help out and problem solve at home. The learning at home transfers into stronger learning at school!
